What the Urban Agenda and Agenda 2030 mean at local level

The United Nations 2030 Agenda sets out the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that guide global action towards sustainability. The Spanish Urban Agenda (Agenda Urbana Española, AUE — Spain's national framework for translating these goals to the local scale) brings those objectives down to the local and territorial level through ten strategic objectives covering land and territory, climate change, resource management, mobility, social cohesion, the urban economy, housing, digital innovation and governance instruments. It is aligned with the EU Urban Agenda and the UN New Urban Agenda.

Municipalities implement it through their Urban Agenda Action Plans, which translate the strategic objectives into concrete actions and are also a requirement for accessing certain financing lines.
