Among the chickpea and wheat fields in the southeast of Huelva, there is something you can't see... a shadow that hangs low, silent, elusive. In Tejada, one of the oldest landscapes in Andalusia, a secret colony of the ashen harrier survives, a steppe bird in decline that only resists thanks to the constant vigilance of those who are still looking at the sky.

In the forests of Burgos, a “deer” with enormous horns and shiny armor lives hidden under the bark... but it's only a few centimeters long, it's a beetle! The Lucanus cervus, together with the beautiful Rosalia alpina, is part of the saproxyl community: creatures that inhabit dead wood and keep the forests of Castile and León alive from the shadows.

On a remote bank of the Tagus, a bitten branch appeared. Then, fingerprints. And finally, the surprise: the European beaver was back. After having disappeared from the peninsula for centuries, this protected species now leaves its mark on our new ones.
