At Ideas Medioambientales we wanted to help address this by collaborating on the publication of the Manual for the Acoustic Identification of Iberian Bats (Tundra Ediciones), a handbook written by Javier García-Oliva Mascarós that will help reduce identification issues in environmental impact studies.

The use of ultrasound detectors and acoustic analysis software has grown exponentially. However, in professional practice, we are observing systematic errors in species recognition, especially when studies rely exclusively on the auto-identification provided by equipment and analysis programs.
